DREAMERS & DEADMEN - "Never had much of a chance..."
When I heard Nora for the first time earlier this year, I listened to a couple of songs, and then completely ignored them up until now... They came off sounding like just another band that screams constantly & hits heavy guitar chords without really adding any sort of polish to anything... After sitting down to review this album, and listening to the entire thing several times, I've come to the realization that Nora really is a pretty decent band... The vocalist is really good at what he does, even though I'm still not really a fan of these bands that do nothing but scream... The guitars are always doing something neat, with that riffy style that a lot of hardcore bands do, but they don't really blow me away with anything technically advanced, like what you might expect from bands like Soilwork, etc... The drummer of this band is really solid, and I like him for the same reasons that I like the drummer from Scars of Tomorrow... This music just makes me want to fight someone, and it would be good music to listen to while you're working out in the gym... Overall, this album is pretty good, but I'm still not going to recommend it, simply because I would have to be in a really rare mood, to want to listen to this album again... Hardcore music just doesn't hit me the way that it's supposed to I guess...
