KO (Punches)
SHIT... I like Pat Barry a lot, so I was really hoping he would win this fight, but he was taken to the ground quickly, completely overpowered by the massive Palelei, and once Palelei was able to adjust his position, he started swinging violently, smashing Barry's face into a puddle of mud. Palelei beat the living shit out of Barry. Great win for Palelei, disappointing loss for Barry.
TKO (Punches)
OH MY GOD... This was the ONLY "fast" fight of the night, and it was a HUGE upset. I really thought Pat Barry (I had him ranked as the #7 Heavyweight in the World), would DESTROY Shawn Jordan, but holy shit, Shawn Jordan kind of "Vitor Belforted" Barry's ass, the way Belfort took out Wanderlei Silva. Nonstop punches, forcing Barry to crumble into a pile of nothingness, in under a minute. Shawn Jordan looked better here than I've ever seen him look, and it SUCKS that Barry was taken out like that.
KO (Punches)
The first round was fine. Shane's Jiu-Jitsu was strong, but he never really put Barry in much trouble, but I still gave the first round to Shane. Barry then said "Oh hell no you didn't!" at which point, he came out swinging like a Behemoth, and he knocked Shane the fuck out, with some of the most BRUTAL heavyweight punches I've ever seen.
TKO (Punches)
This fight was pretty much what you'd expect between two big heavyweight strikers. Both guys threw bombs, Barry mostly kicks, Johnson mostly punches. In the end, near the end of the first round, Johnson had Barry pinned up against the cage, and was swinging for the fences, eventually breaking down Barry's defenses, causing Barry to collapse to the ground. Lavar Johnson looked pretty solid, but he's slow, so I think that's his main obvious weakness. He definitely has heavy hands though.
KO (Punches)
HOLY SHIT! Who would have that this fight would have fight of the night potential? Morecraft looked super aggressive at the start of the fight, taking Barry to the ground, locking on an arm triangle, an Armbar, completely controlling the ground game, etc... BUT! Pat Barry has submission defense skills!!! Who knew!?! His ground defense was awesome, and eventually after MULTIPLE submission escapes, Barry got it back to the feet, clipped Morecraft with a big left hook, followed by some ground & pound that quickly knocked Morecraft unconscious. This was a badass heavyweight fight!
Submission (Triangle Choke)
Wow! The first round was sort of a standard fight, both guys throwing strikes, neither one really "going at it" all that hard. The second round though, was sort of more of the same, until the fight went to the ground, at which point, Struve locked on a SLICK triangle choke, Pat Barry lifted him up in the air the EXACT same way Rampage lifted Arona, and SLAMMED him down with a huge BOOM, and just when you thought Struve might get knocked the fuck out, Barry tapped to the choke, because Struve was able to defend himself against the slam, by landing on his elbow instead of flat on his back. Great win for Struve, and valiant effort for the much shorter Pat Barry.
KO (Punch)
HOLY SHIT! This was one of the craziest fights ever! Pat Barry knocked out Cheick Kongo, TWICE, in the first two minutes of the fight! The problem is, Kongo wasn't out, and he somehow got back up, on wobbly legs, and knocked Barry the fuck out, and when I say "The fuck out", I MEAN, "THE FUCK OUT!!!" HOLY HORSE SHIT, that was a crazy fucking fight. I feel horrible for Barry, because he had every reason to believe that he was moments away from finishing this fight, so yeah, sucks for him, but HOLY SHIT, Kongo is a beast.
Well then! Joey Beltran looked solid in the first round, turning the fight into a bit of a brawl, and he was able to get the better of Barry during the first round. The second round was all Barry though, so they went into the third round somewhat even. Pat Barry basically chopped Beltran down like a tree in the third round though, and by the end of the round, even though the fight went to decision, Beltran was laying face first on the canvas, crying about his busted up leg. Did I mention Barry kicked Beltran in the head over and over again throughout this fight? Beltran is a zombie, but Barry is a zombie killer, dude is brutal.
Submission (Rear-Naked Choke)
Hell yeah! Mirko Cro Cop was one of my favorite fighters over in Pride, and it's a mixed bag these days, as to whether or not he can still handle top competition at all. The first round, Barry looked good, knocking Cro Cop to the ground a couple of times, with single shots to the chin. At one point during the first round, they LITERALLY hugged & giggled, and the referee yelled at them, telling them that they're supposed to be fighting. I gave the first round to Barry. The second round goes to Cro Cop, because he started to get kind of crazy in there, doing some damage to Barry. The third round, Cro Cop pretty much kicked Barry's ass, finishing him off with a rear-naked choke. Cro Cop started slow, but the last two rounds looked solid.
TKO (Punches)
Yeah! I like this Pat Barry guy. Antoni Hardonk is known for his leg kicks, and he chopped away at Barry quite a bit in the first round, but Barry came back in the second round, and started to chop away at the Anton-tree Hardonk, until eventually he crumbled, Barry finished him off with a GIGANTIC right hook on the ground, and then after accepting the victory, Barry did a backflip in the cage. That guy is wild.
Submission (Guillotine Choke)
Wow, that was kind of shocking. Patrick Barry beat the living shit out of Tim Hague during the opening minute or so, with some huge punches & kicks. All of the sudden, Hague took Barry to the ground, locked on the guillotine choke, and forced Barry to submit. I thought Hague was out, so how did he win this fight!?!
(Leg Kicks)
This fight was ridiculous, mostly because Dan Evensen is ridiculous. I've never seen Pat Barry fight before, but he sort of has that Mirko Cro-Cop style, which is pretty cool. He kicked the shit out of Evensen's leg, forcing Evensen to give up (due to leg kicks), only 2 or 3. This fight was ridiculous, but I'm looking forward to seeing Barry fight somebody other than Evensen in the future.
