This fight started kind of slow, with Ma throwing a hard leg kick 50 seconds into the opening round, but other than that, it was mostly just circling around each other. Yabo threw a few decent combinations, but for the most part, the first round felt like a casual sparring match. Ma started to get a little more aggressive at the end of the round, but still didn't do a ton of damage. If I had to pick, I'd give the first round to Ma, but it really wasn't an impressive round for either fighter.
The second round was another slow paced casual sparring match, and Ma got poked in the eye one minute into the round. A few decent shots landed both ways, but neither fighter really dealt significant damage. I have Ma ahead 2-0 going into the final round, mostly based on forward aggression. This fight sucks though.
Ma came out a little more aggressively in the final round, dropping Yabo with a left hook 40 seconds into the round. Yabo popped back up, and Ma continued to throw punches while cornering Yabo against the fence. Yabo threw some spinning bullshit, and Ma countered him with a leg kick that dropped him. Ma jumped on him in side control, battered him with elbows, mounted him, and then unloaded with enough brutal elbows to force the referee to stop the fight. Nice win for Ma, but shitty fight overall.

Arslanaliev started this fight by throwing some brutal punches, he knocked Ma down in the first 15 seconds. He let him stand back up, and continued to throw bombs at him. Hard punches mixed with leg kicks, Arslanaliev is 100% offense. Ma took him down 90 seconds into the fight, but they stood back up immediately, and Arslanaliev absolutely mauled Ma with a head kick followed by some brutal punches, until he crumpled up on the ground near the fence. Another fantastic first round finish for Saygid Guseyn Arslanaliev in just under 2 minutes. This guy is quickly becoming one of my favorite fighters to watch.

Wei shot for a takedown early, and Ma tried for a guillotine, and then gave that up in favor of some punches to the side of Wei's head. Wei finally completed the takedown 45 seconds into the opening round. Ma stood back up 30 seconds later, and then tripped Wei, taking him down, pressing him toward the fence. Ma landed some short punches, while Wei tried desperately to spin out of Ma's side control. Wei tried to wrestle his way into a takedown, but Ma stopped him, and landed some knees from an awkward clinch against the fence. They hugged against the fence for a little while, and then Ma ended the round with a wild flurry of strikes. Round one goes to Jia Wen Ma.
They traded some loud wet sounding strikes in the second round. It turned into a fairly aggressive boxing match, with Ma in control, moving forward, and throwing the more violent combinations. Ma spent the rest of the round chasing Wei, beating the shit out of him with brutal punch combinations, rocking the shit out of him multiple times, as Wei really had to use all of his energy just to survive. That was a pretty kickass performance by Jia Wen Ma, as he wins the fight by unanimous decision.

These guys both looked like absolute killers earlier tonight. ZERO action happened in the first 90 seconds of this fight, so the referee had to warn them, telling them they need to fight. Ma threw a few punches, and Huang threw a couple of leg kics, but by the halfway mark of the round, there was still barely any action at all. Ma dropped Huang with a punch with around 2 minutes left in the round, and Huang mostly just tried to hang on with his guard. They popped back up with a minute left in the round, and Huang swung and missed with a flying knee. That wasn't a great round, but I would probably have to give it to Ma based on a minute of top control.
The second round was another lackluster boring round, without much action. They clinched and threw a few strikes halfway through the round, but for the most part, this fight was all about bouncing around, and not fighting. Ma shot for another takedown with 2 minutes left in the round, but Huang popped back up a second later. The rest of the fight had both guys trading strikes at a very slow pace. This fight pretty much sucked. I thought Ma pretty clearly won both rounds, but all 3 judges gave the fight to Huang, as he wins tonight's featherweight tournament.

Ma came out throwing brutal punch combinations to start the fight, but Nulijiao quickly fired back with some big winging punches of his own. The first 30 seconds were filled with wild brawling, and then they aggressively started clinching with each other. Ma threw a big knee, and then Nilijiao took him to the ground. They wrestled around for a few seconds, with Ma ending up on top inside Nulijiao's guard. Ma threw a few decent elbows from the top, but not a lot was really happening on the ground before the end of the round. Round one goes to Ma.
The second round started with some wild brawling again, and then Ma took down Nulijiao again, 15 seconds into the round. From there, Ma achieved full mount, Nulijiao rolled out of that, Ma went for an armbar, Nulijiao slipped out and beat up Ma from the top for a 30 seconds or so. and then he went for an armbar, and lost position the same way Ma did, so now Ma is back on top in side control, 90 seconds into the round. He moved to mount, postured up, unloaded some big punches, and the referee stopped the fight. Really solid MMA debut for Jia Wen Ma, as he moves on to the next round of tonight's tournament.
