The first round started with some slow paced striking, with both guys throwing with a lot of power, but not throwing with much volume. Vera ended up catching a kick, he lifted Ning's leg high up in the air, pushed him across the cage, clinched, grabbed his back, jumped on him, slapped on a rear-naked choke, kicked off the fence to get to the center of the cage, and he continued to work for that choke, with Ning stuck in the center with nowhere to go. Ning did a good job with the hand fighting though, which allowed him to hang on until the end of the round. Round one goes to Vera, mostly for the submission attempt in the final minute or so.
The second round mostly took place on the feet, with Ning picking apart Vera with some thick sounding leg kicks. Vera caught another kick halfway through the round, which allowed him to press Ning against the fence again, where he tried to take his back again, but Ning shook him off and ended up on top, where Ning was able to unload with some big punches & elbows, but Vera escaped by grabbing for a leg lock. Vera went for a calf slicer, but Ning yanked his leg out, and secured side control again. Ning landed some short elbows, while Vera scrambled around on the bottom trying to find a way to escape. Ning passed to full mount, and continued to drop elbows, but Vera was able to defend himself JUST enough to prevent the stoppage. That round goes to Ning, and I have this fight all tied up going into the final round.
Ning started the second round with some more of those heavy leg kicks, followed by some slick punch combinations. Vera tried to fire back with his leg kicks of his own, but Ning really looks like he's pulling ahead with a clear lead with the striking in this fight. Vera dropped Ning with a big left hand, and continued to unload with some wild punches on the ground, but Ning was able to recover enough to try to stand back up, but Vera jumped on his back and started working for the rear-naked choke again, 90 seconds into the third round. Vera stood up, threw some leg kicks while Ning was still on the ground, Ning tried to stand up, and Vera jumped on him with a front choke attempt, but Ning pressed him into the fence, and the fight slowed down with some clinching, before they reset halfway through the round. Vera blasted Ning with a head kick, but it barely seemed to phase him. The final 90 seconds of the fight had Vera walking down Ning, but neither fighter was throwing much more than a couple of strikes at a time. In the end, I scored this fight 29-28 in favor of Vera, and can't imagine anyone will score it any other way than that. All 3 judges agreed, giving Vera the hard fought unanimous decision victory.
Decision (Split)
The first round started out kind of slow, with Beltran picking apart Ning with kicks, until Ning threw a kick of his own, slipped, and ended up kicking Beltran in the dick. They paused the fight for a few seconds, and then started back up again. I gave the first round to Beltran for being slightly more aggressive, and he also secured a takedown in the final seconds, and grabbed Ning's back. The second round had Beltran slipping, and Ning got on top and tried to beat him up from inside the guard, but it was somewhat uneventful, so probably could have gone either way, but I have it tied up going into the final round. Not a great fight going into the final round. The final round had them trading strikes, but they were still picking their shots, instead of going in for the kill, so there wasn't a ton of action until the final minute, where Beltran started unloading knees. Ning seemed to control the clinch though, pushing Beltran against the fence, so... To be honest, I have no idea who won this fight, but I'd probably score it slightly for Marco Beltran, especially since he knocked Ning down in the final 10 seconds with a hard shot to the chin. Ning also had a terrible looking cut on his left eyelid at the end of the fight, so yeah, congrats to Beltran for pulling off the split-decision victory. Close fight, but not very eventful.
TKO (Punches & Elbows)
This was a decent fight, albeit one-sided. Ning beat up Wee in the first round, he was way more aggressive, and clearly took that round. The second round, Wee kicked Ning in the nuts, so the fight got a brief timeout. When the fight started back up, it was slow paced, until the 10 second clicks at the end of the round, which triggered something inside Ning, that made him brutally attack Wee, punching him against the cage, knocking him to the ground, and then he battered him with brutal elbows, until the fight was stopped by the referee, and Wee was left laying on the ground with some doctors for a while. Nice win for Ning.
This fight was decent I guess, but again, unless you watched the full season of The Ultimate Fighter China, you would have no real reason to give a shit about either fight. With that being said, Guangyou had a nice throw in the first round, a takedown & guillotine attempt in the second round, and Jianping show some nice leg kicks in the third round. So I gave the fight to Guangyou, 29-28, and all 3 judges agreed.
KO (Punch)
Lee started the first round by backing up in circles, while Ning slowly walked forward, stalking him in loops around the cage. They literally went through the first half of the round without doing anything, other than Lee backing up, and Ning moving forward, so the referee stopped the fight, and told them that they both need to fight. When the fight started back up, they continued with the same thing for another 30 seconds or so, with Lee backing up, and Ning moving forward, until Ning blasted Lee with a brutal left hand that knocked him the fuck out with around 2 minutes left in the opening round. That was another outstanding finish for Guangyou Ning. The fight was fucking terrible, but the one punch knockout was awesome.
KO (Punch)
These guys clinched early, and Ning tripped Liang to the ground early in the first round, landing in half mount. Liang pulled guard, and then Ning spent the rest of the round beating up Liang from inside his guard with some basic punches. Round one clearly goes to Ning.
Ning started the second round with a heavy left hand that knocked down Liang, he stood above him, dropped some heavy right hands, and the fight was stopped 11 seconds into the second round, due to Ning's heavy hands knocking Liang the fuck out.
