KO (Punches)
Lewis started this fight with a massive head kick, and then Gonzaga slowly pulled him to the ground, ending up in side control. Lewis slowly worked his way back to his feet, Gonzaga continued to look for a takedown, and Lewis hit him with some elbows. Gonzaga continued to try to work for a slow shitty takedown, Lewis continued to shrug it off, Lewis got pissed at the end of the round and absolutely slaughtered Gonzaga with big punches, knocking him on his ass, causing Gonzaga to collapse face first. Really nice finish for Derrick Lewis against a former title contender. Derrick Lewis MIGHT just be legit, eh?
Absolutely nothing happened in the first minute of this fight. Gonzaga then landed a leg kick, and then nothing at all happened for another minute or so. Gonzaga threw a head kick, and then nothing happened for another minute or so. The crowd really started to boo around the halfway mark of the first round, as only 2 strikes were thrown so far in the first 2:30 of the fight. Gonzaga then shot in for a takedown, and Erokhin hit him with some punches on his way in, which caused Gonzaga to give up trying. A few punches were thrown going both ways, and then Gonzaga shot for another takedown, and failed again. Gonzaga wins the first round by being more aggressive, but it really wasn't a very eventful round. Gonzaga finally finished a takedown in the final 10 seconds. The second round was another slow shitty round. Gonzaga landed a couple of punches, so I guess he wins the round. I took a nap, and when I woke up, Gonzaga won via unanimous decision. This fight sucked, and even though Gonzaga won, considering he lost his last 3 fights going into this one, and then had a shitty performance here, I think the UFC should fire this dude. As for Erokhin, 0-2 in the UFC now? Eh... I could do without seeing either of these guys again.
TKO (Elbows & Punches)
YES! I don't want to blow this out of proportion, since both of these guys are obviously on the down-side of their careers, but... CRO COP IS BACK! (Sort of...) He got his ass beat for the first two rounds, as Gonzaga took him down repeatedly, and beat him up, and displayed his superior grappling skills. The third round though, had Gonzaga clinching Cro Cop against the cage, where Cro Cop was able to launch a BRUTAL elbow, as he chopped the big man down, eventually getting in Gonzaga's guard, where Cro Cop beat the living shit out of him with punches & brutal elbows, until the referee was forced to stop the fight. AWESOME return for Mirko Cro Cop.
TKO (Punches)
Yes! I've been a fan of Matt Mitrione for a while now, considering him one of the top heavyweights in the division, but I feel like he's still not being taken seriously. Well after this, I'm really hoping that the UFC will start taking him more seriously, because taking out Gabriel Gonzaga in 2 minutes of the first round is a pretty decent name to have on your record.
This fight was an important fight for the heavyweight division, when it comes to sorting out some of the guys that are creeping towards the top of the division, but it really wasn't very exciting. Gonzaga probably won the first round, but it was close, I gave the next two rounds to Miocic. By the time it was over, I didn't really care who would win, I was just disappointed that ANOTHER fight went to a decision. Miocic's stamina definitely won this fight for him though, because Gonzaga ran out of gas WAY too quickly.
KO (Punches)
On my list, these guys were battling to secure a spot in the Top 10 Heavyweights list, and Gabriel Gonzaga won this fight with a BRUTAL punch to the face of Jordan. It was cool, because Jordan punched Gonzaga, and as Gonzaga was absorbing the punch, he launched a counter, which knocked Jordan to the ground, finishing the fight. Great win for Gabriel Gonzaga, as he continues to climb his way up the Heavyweight ladder!
KO (Punches)
Ha, this was kind of funny I guess. Dave Herman always talks shit about how Jiu-Jitsu has no effect on him. Well, after losing 3 fights in a row in the UFC, here he is against Gonzaga, the man that has been training with Renzo Gracie for this camp, polishing up his Jiu-Jitsu skills. And uh... Gonzaga just knocked him the fuck out, QUICKLY, in under 20 seconds. So those Jiu-Jitsu skills didn't even get a chance to be displayed here. I do feel kind of bad for Herman though, because he HAS to be getting dangerously close to getting fired from the UFC at this point, because 4 losses in a row GENERALLY doesn't fly with the UFC.
KO (Elbows)
This was kind of a silly fight. Gabriel Gonzaga shot in for a lazy takedown against the cage, and Travis Browne started raining down some HEAVY fuckin' elbows to the side of Gonzaga's head, knocking him unconscious. Travis Browne's elbows look painful. Excellent stoppage by Travis Browne, Gonzaga on the other hand, didn't seem to bring ANYTHING with him tonight.
Submission (Guillotine Choke)
This was kind of a boring fight, between two Top 20 Heavyweights. The first round was basically just filled with slow heavyweight punching, and Gonzaga trying to take Rothwell to the ground. The second round, Gonzaga locked on a standing guillotine choke, dropped to his guard, and finished the fight there. I still think both of these guys have some work to do before they'll be relevant again.
Submission (Rear-Naked Choke)
This was a pretty good show by Gonzaga, sort of a boring fight though. Ednaldo clearly wanted to keep it standing, but Gonzaga hulked out on him, took him to the ground, locked on the rear-naked choke, and then called it a night. Gonzaga is a beast of a man, but I don't see him climbing the heavyweight ladder anytime in the near future. As for Ednaldo, I don't expect to see him in the UFC ever again, who the hell is he?
Well, Gabriel Gonzaga is a beast on the ground, but for some reason he tried to spend this entire fight, standing with Schaub, so I ended up giving all 3 rounds to Schaub. MAYBE Gonzaga won back some points late in the third round, but ultimately, Gonzaga was just Schaub's punching bag during their moderately paced sparring session.
TKO (Punches)
Well, Gonzaga looks like a beast, but he didn't really offer much in terms of energy in this fight. Eventually, he got punched, fell to the ground, Junior beat his ass, and Gonzaga got knocked the fuck out. Junior dos Santos is legit.
TKO (Punches)
This was an unfortunate, but still entertaining fight. Gonzaga started the fight with an early HARD kick to the nuts of Tuchscherer, which stopped the fight for quite a while. Once they got back to business, Gonzaga landed a huge kick to the head, knocking Tuchscherer to his ass, following that up with some brutal ground & pound, leaving Tuchscherer a bloody mess. Gonzaga is a beast, but the nut shot kind of ruined the validity of this fight I think.
TKO (Punches)
This fight was pretty crazy. Gabriel Gonzaga came out early with some heavy punches, rocking Carwin, and he followed that up with a nice takedown followed by a full mount. Carwin was somehow able to escape, and as soon as they got back on their feet, Carwin threw a short right hand that knocked Gonzaga the fuck out. Shane Carwin looked like he was in trouble early, but he's a beast. Carwin wins with an early first round KO.
KO (Punches)
Who the fuck is Josh Hendricks? OH! That's right! He's the guy that just got punched in the face by Gonzaga, and then fell to the ground and started crying, and tapped out, due to getting punched in the face. Gonzaga is pretty good, but who the fuck is Josh Hendricks? Oh, that's right, the guy I already forgot about. Gonzaga wins via first round KO.
Submission (Kimura)
This fight was ok, but pretty predictable... They both started out standing with each other, and McCully looked like he had "OK" striking skills, but Gonzaga threw a huge leg kick knocking McCully to the ground, Gonzaga jumped on with him the full mount, beat the shit out of his face with some HEAVY hammerfists, and then forced the submission via the key lock, almost breaking McCully's arm off at the elbow... Gonzaga is a beast, but McCully has no business fighting in the UFC, so really, did this fight mean anything at all?
TKO (Punches)
Wow man, this was a surprisingly exciting fight... The first round basically had Gabriel Gonzaga throwing INSANE leg kicks, one after the other, repeatedly knocking Fabricio Werdum off his feet... From the first round, it looked like Gonzaga was going to absolutely destroy Werdum... The second round started, and it looked like more of the same, with the addition of several nice throws & slams delivered by Gonzaga, making Werdum look like his bitch, until Werdum broke out the Chute Boxe clinch, and landed a handful of knees to the chin of Gonzaga, he took him to the ground, and then finished the fight by repeatedly punching Gonzaga's head while it was pinned up against the cage... Good show by both fighters, and Werdum pulled out the TKO victory near the end of the second round...
TKO (Punches)
Man, I was off on another important prediction! I wanted Randy Couture to win this one, but I got caught up in the hype, and I actually believed that Gonzaga was a monster that would destroy everybody, including maybe even Fedor Emelianenko... Well, I guess not... Maybe that kick to the head of Mirko Cro-Cop was a lucky shot afterall? Either way, this fight was impressive... Randy Couture came out and took Gonzaga to the ground several times, including one big slam where he picked the giant Gonzaga up off the ground, and slammed him to the ground... Whenever they were on their feet, Randy got up close in the clinch, and dominated Gonzaga there as well... Ultimately, Randy Couture broke Gonzaga's nose in the first round, and then beat the shit out of him for 2 rounds, finally finishing him early in the third with the ground & pound TKO... Randy is the fuckin' man...
KO (Head Kick)
Holy fuckin' crap... Gonzaga absolutely destroyed the #2 Heavyweight in the entire world... Gonzaga took Cro Cop to the ground, and started pounding away on him, cutting Mirko's head with elbows, and just slamming heavy fists into the face of Cro Cop... Referee Herb Dean eventually made both fighters stand up (in an attempt to save Cro Cop in my opinion, because Gonzaga was killing the guy on the ground...) Well, bad move... Once they stood back up, with about 10 seconds left in the first round, Gonzaga threw a right high kick at the head of Cro Cop, and I honestly thought he ended the guy's career... (And he may have)... Cro Cop's leg literally was turned inside out, with his foot basically backwards & up his ass when he hit the ground... It was the most insane knock out that I've ever seen, and I literally almost threw up, and almost cried... Gonzaga is a fuckin' beast, and is extremely under-rated... I want to see Gonzaga take on Fedor!!! But instead, we're getting Gonzaga vs. Randy Couture for the Heavyweight Championship... So basically, Gonzaga is going to be your next UFC Heavyweight Champion...
Submission (Armbar)
I wasn't really looking forward to seeing this fight at all, since last time I saw Gonzaga fight, it was boring as shit... Carmelo Marrero on the other hand, is boring as shit... Both of them, are boring as shit... Luckily, this fight didn't last long... Gonzaga took down Marrero (wrestler) with ease, mounted him, grappled with him, made him look like an amateur, and then eventually forced him to submit to an armbar... Gonzaga has some solid Jiu-Jitsu skills, but I still don't like watching him fight... Marrero on the other hand, is kind of hyped up to be the next Randy Couture, and that makes me cry, because this guy sucks... Maybe if he was at Light Heavyweight, he'd be alright? But at 220, he's just too small to be a contender in the heavyweight division, when his primary skill is wrestling (i.e. control the other person's body weight)...
TKO (Punches)
Last time I saw Gabriel Gonzaga fight, it was against some big black guy, and they both SUCKED... The fight went all three rounds, and it absolutely sucked... Neither fighter did anything, AT ALL, until the last 30 seconds of the fight, where Gonzaga knocked the other dude out, with a superman punch... Well, he's returning to the octagon, against Fabiano Scherner, and this was actually one hell of a fight... They both tried to stand with each other to start things off, Gonzaga took Scherner down with a really nice takedown in the first round, grappling was involved, strikes were involved, etc... Good round... Second round started, and Scherner almost walked out of the fight because he was seeing double vision... After the crowd booed noticably, they decided to let the second round start up, and Gonzaga made quick work of him, by attacking him with a series of punches, eventually forcing Scherner to just fall to his knees and quit the fight... Scherner physically looks like a bad ass, but he's not a very impressive fighter, even though he's a Jiu-Jitsu expert... I don't know, I don't look forward to seeing him fight again, but Gabriel Gonzaga has definitely done a good job of saving his reputation with this fight, since his last fight was the worst fight in history...
KO (Superman Punch)
Oh my god... This was the worst fight I've seen all year... This was terrible... Awful... Dreadful... Rotten... Appalling... Poor... Abysmal... Worst God damned thing I've ever seen in the UFC... It was a 3 round fight, where they just walked around aimlessly, staring at the sky, not doing a God damned thing... The first round lead me to believe that Gonzaga was a submission machine, but they both got winded after the first round, and NEVER came back... During the final 30 seconds of the last round, Gonzaga threw a superman punch, causing Kevin Jordan's face to explode, and he of course, was knocked out... Stupid fucking fight, and I hope that they both got fired...
Technical Submission (Triangle Choke)
These guys started out the fight with a lot of clinch work, mostly just pressing into each other, but both of them threw a few random strikes here & there. Gonzaga shot in for a takedown, and pressed Hinkle against the corner of the ring. Hinkle tried to stand up, and Gonzaga grabbed his back, looking for a choke, but Hinkle was able to spin out of it. Gonzaga blasted him in the jaw with some hard punches, before Hinkle was able to clinch again. Hinkle shot for a takedown, and Gonzaga wrapped him up in a triangle choke. Gonzaga punched Hinkle in the face several times, before Hinkle eventually fell asleep from the choke. Nice win for Gabriel Gonzaga.
